Middle Ear Infections and Chiropractic Care

Middle ear infections versus pediatric chiropractic adjustments

My child was always sick. By the time she was 3 she had already been on 13 rounds of antibiotics. My doctor said she had PI syndrome. Since she has received chiropractic care she has never had an ear infection again! What is the deal?

By the age of three, over two thirds of American children have had one or more episodes of otitis media or middle ear infection. Research has uncovered the crippling side effects of antibiotic use such as: allergic reactions, GI upset, destruction of good bacteria leading to a lifetime of weaken immune function and a proliferation of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Tubes in the ears have a 98% recurrence of infection within two months while 25% of those with tubes suffer from hearing loss years later. Medical doctors are now recognizing the damage antibiotics are doing to their young patients.

American mothers are resorting to "unconventional" methods of addressing their children's' chronic state of immune suppression. They are tired of "drugging" their children and addressing the symptom rather than getting to the cause of the dysfunction. In some cases a child will be traumatized during an "uneventful" birthing process leading to partial dislocations of the upper cervical vertebrae and soft tissue injuries to the neck and shoulders. These injuries can cause regional lymphatic drainage problems of the sinus, Eustachian tubes, and esophagus of the child.

Musculoskeletal Eustachian tube dysfunction is an important etiological factor for otitis media. The Eustachian tube dysfunction manifests primarily by poor ventilation from the nasopharynx to the middle ear, by allowing negative pressure in the middle ear. By applying gentle, specific adjustments to these children's necks and shoulders and addressing the regional soft tissue lesions chiropractic care is delivering positive, drug-free results for these families. I just reviewed a DVD on birth trauma and was disturbed at what I witnessed. The amount of force used to "extract" these children during "natural " childbirth was more than sufficent enough to subluxate the child's cervical vertebra. In my opinion, if a chiropractic pediatric specialist checked every child after the birth process we could dramatically reduce the suffering of American children. Of course, at the same time, the need for the antibiotic would be effective reduced. Would mainstream medicine ever accept a practice which would cripple the pharmacuetical cash flow? Time will tell. I am betting they will …. with your help.
